Matt Gilliard

Matt Gilliard began studying Yoseikan Budo in 1993 under the supervision of Sensei Troy Hester and eventually Sensei Hudson Harris. In 1995 he opened his first dojo at the University Of North Alabama, which he ran until he relocated to Huntsville in 1999. He was promoted to Shodan in 2002, and was promoted to Nidan in 2005.

In addition to his training with Sensei's Hester and Harris, Gilliard Sensei has trained extensively with the Technical Director of the United States Yoseikan Budo Association, Dr. Glenn Pack, Hanshi. He has also received direct instruction from European Technical Director, Mitchi Mochizuki as well as from Grandmaster Hiroo Mochizuki.

Having an interest in other martial arts, Gilliard Sensei has also explored Hakka Ryu Jujitsu, Tang Soo Do, Jeet Kun Do, American Kenpo, Escrima, and other arts.
